Insurance with your trail pass
The Act respecting off-highway vehicles stipulates that, as the owner of an ATV , you are required by law to have a civil liability insurance policy covering bodily injury or property damage your vehicle might cause to other people. This policy must provide at least $1,000,000 of coverage. This liability insurance is mandatory for all ATV drivers, whether or not they use the trail network.
As official insurer of the FQCQ, Intact Insurance offers liability insurance at a preferred rate EXCLUSIVELY FOR MEMBERS OF FQCQ-AFFILIATED CLUBS! When you buy your snowmobile ATV trail permit, you become a MEMBER of an affiliated club and you may also purchase $1,000,000 in civil liability insurance coverage.
By offering this insurance with the trail permit, the FQCQ through its affiliated clubs makes sure every member is protected in case of an accident in Canada and the United States, at a very low price because of the size of the network. In fact, the liability insurance costs only $43,64, tax included, and this amount is included in the cost of your annual or summer trail permit.
Compare this with what your insurance company offers, and make sure the amount they are quoting is for a $1,000,000 insurance policy, not a second layer of $1,000,000 added to an existing $1,000,000 coverage to bring your total protection to $2,000,000.
Here’s what your trail pass includes:

Would you like even more protection? If you are a Quebec resident, you can increase the limit of your Intact Insurance liability insurance policy to $2,000,000, for an additional premium of only $22.00, tax included.
In total, your $2,000,000 of coverage will cost you only $63,64, tax included, which compares very favourably with other offers on the market.

PURCHASE OF A TRAIL PASS WITHOUT INSURANCE
If you think you can find liability insurance coverage at a better price elsewhere, or if you already have liability insurance for your snowmobile, you can buy a trail permit without insurance.
Don’t forget that liability insurance is mandatory for all quad owners and that the FQCQ has negotiated a preferential rate for you with Intact Insurance at only $43.64 taxes included.
Compare with what your insurer can offer you before making a choice and be careful not to find yourself driving your quad without this mandatory protection!
WARNING: The trail pass without insurance sells for the regular cost of $348.48 for the year ($318.48 during the discount sale) and $232.98$ for the summer ($212.98 during the discount sale).
To help you make the right choice between purchasing a trail pass without insurance and a regular trail pass (with insurance), here is some additional information to consider:
Intact Insurance’s insurance coverage includes: ATV Rider Liability Insurance in the amount of $43.64 and Club Liability Insurance in the amount of $8.11, for a total cost of $51.75 annually.
On the other hand, when you buy a trail pass without insurance, you pay the following costs: the civil insurance of the club in the amount of $8.11 as well as FQCQ administration fees in the amount of 12.37 $ (taxes included), for a total of $20.48.
Thus, the price difference between the two types of trail passes is $31.27 per year. We invite you to compare this amount to the premium you pay your current insurer so that you can decide for the next season which type of trail pass is best for you: regular or without insurance.
If you choose to purchase a trail pass without insurance, note that a minimum period of ten working days will be necessary for your insurance to be valid and protect you. You will then receive an email that will include your temporary trail pass. You can print it to ride the trails while waiting to receive the official document and the sticker to affix to your vehicle.
We remind you that you are prohibited by law from riding on a trail of FQCQ member clubs if you do not have all the required documents with you (trail pass, driver’s license, proof of insurance) .
